The ARX 55 is a road wheelset for riders in their element off the front of the bunch, chasing KOMs on local segments. It’s a serious tool in the hands of ambitious amateurs and racers whose natural habitat is smooth tarmac and fast group rides.
Optimised aerodynamics
The 55 mm rim depth slices cleanly through the air, giving you an edge where every second counts. We shaped it to pair with 28-30 mm tires, forming a clean, low-drag rim-and-tire system. Even at this depth the bike handles with confidence, staying stable even in strong crosswinds out in the open.
Full control on every road
A 23 mm internal width changes how the bike rides. The tire sits wide on the rim for better grip and lower rolling resistance. That makes the wheels not only fast but good at damping road buzz – less energy lost and more comfort on long training rides.
Exceptional stiffness – every watt put to work
Thanks to larger-section spokes, the ARX 55 is stiffer than most lightweight road wheels on the market. Your power goes straight into the drivetrain, which makes this a natural choice for strong racers and hard interval efforts.
Every ARX 55 set is hand-built in our Warsaw workshop. At its heart sit reliable DT Swiss 350 or 240 EXP hubs, laced with Sapim Race or CX-Sprint spokes. These are bombproof, fast wheels, ready for thousands of kilometres of race-pace riding.
Yes. As standard, the wheels are built for today’s most common thru axle system – 12×100 mm (front) and 12×142 mm (rear) – which is the standard on almost every modern road bike. If your bike uses a different system (e.g. quick release – note: the QR option is available only with DT Swiss 350 hubs; or road boost), add the appropriate modification package to your order.
With its 55 mm depth, the ARX 55 is built for speed. The deeper rim cuts through the air better and helps you hold the pace on flat and rolling routes, in group rides and during breakaways – at the cost of slightly more sensitivity to crosswinds and a few dozen grams of weight. If you ride in the mountains more often, over long distances or in changeable, windy conditions, the calmer and lighter 48 mm depth of the ARX 48 may suit you better.
Yes. Every wheel that leaves our workshop is already sealed with the correct tubeless tape. Valves are not part of the set, but you can add them in our shop. Just add them to your cart and we’ll match their length and base shape to fit the 55 mm rim depth perfectly.
We shaped the outer profile of the ARX 55 rim so that, together with a 28-30 mm tire, it forms the most aerodynamic combination. This setup delivers the most effective reduction in air resistance at high speed. With a 23 mm internal rim width, you can also run much wider tires safely. The real limit is your frame clearance.
The ARX 55 uses hooked rims (with a bead hook). This is the most versatile and safest solution, allowing both tubeless (tubeless) and classic clincher tires with inner tubes (including latex or TPU), without the strict pressure limits typical of hookless rims.
You order the wheels with a freehub body matched to your drivetrain – options include Shimano HG 11-speed (also compatible with 12-speed road cassettes), SRAM XDR, Shimano Micro Spline and Campagnolo N3W. Before ordering, make sure the chosen freehub body is compatible with the components on your bike. We encourage you to read the article on our blog covering this topic.
All three are reliable ratchet hubs for straight-pull spokes – they differ in weight and in the design of the engagement mechanism.
The U-shaped ARX 55 rim profile was designed to minimise the effect of crosswinds while keeping a stability unheard of in older V-shape designs. Bear in mind, though, that this is a deep profile dedicated to fast riding. Although the wheels handle predictably, in strong gusts they will demand a little more attention than the ARX 48. This is a set that performs best on flat and rolling routes, where its aerodynamics give the greatest advantage.
Thanks to a reinforced carbon fibre layup and Sapim spokes, the weight limit (rider + bike) is as high as 130 kg. This makes them some of the most durable and, at the same time, genuinely lightweight road wheels on the market.
On wheels built on carbon rims we offer a lifetime warranty, and we process claims within five working days. We also cover them with our Crash Replacement programme: if you damage a rim in a crash, we’ll replace it on preferential terms. We carry out all service repairs within two weeks, because we keep the necessary parts in stock. We build every wheel by hand in our Warsaw workshop and treat each one as a separate project.
