The ARX 48 is a new-generation road wheelset for riders who refuse to choose between low weight and aerodynamics. It gives your bike speed on the flats and confidence through the corners, and its well-balanced profile makes it as capable on the climbs as on fast, flat sections.
Refined aerodynamics
We designed the rim profile around CFD simulations. Its shape is optimised for 28-30 mm tires, with which it effectively cuts drag while keeping its handling stable even in stronger crosswinds.
Wide profile – confidence in corners
A 23 mm internal rim width is today’s standard for road wheels. It seats the tire in an ideal profile, which translates into lower rolling resistance, better grip through corners and the comfort you’ll appreciate after a few hours in the saddle.
Low rotating weight – instant response
A lighter rim gives the bike snap: every pedal stroke turns into instant acceleration. You’ll feel it clearly coming out of corners, in punchy accelerations and on short, steep climbs.
The ARX 48 is the product of precise, hand-built work in our workshop. At the heart of the wheelset sit reliable DT Swiss 350 or 240 EXP hubs, laced with Sapim Race or CX-Sprint spokes. Careful lacing and truing make for wheels that are stiff, responsive and durable – ready for thousands of kilometres of trouble-free riding.
Yes. As standard, the wheels are built for today’s most common thru axle system – 12×100 mm (front) and 12×142 mm (rear) – which is the standard on almost every modern road bike. If your bike uses a different system (e.g. quick release – note: the QR option is available only with DT Swiss 350 hubs; or road boost), add the appropriate modification package to your order.
It comes down to the character of your riding. With its 48 mm depth, the ARX 48 is a versatile all-rounder: lighter, calmer in crosswinds and snappier on climbs, while still aerodynamic on the flat. It’s a good choice for routes with elevation, long distances and changeable conditions. If you’re after maximum speed on flat and rolling terrain and on racing, consider the higher, more aero ARX 55.
Yes. Every wheel that leaves our workshop is already sealed with the correct tubeless tape. Valves are not part of the set, but you can add them in our shop. Just add them to your cart and we’ll match their length and base shape to fit the 48 mm rim depth perfectly.
We shaped the outer profile of the ARX 48 rim so that, together with a 28-30 mm tire, it forms the most aerodynamic combination. This setup delivers the most effective reduction in air resistance at high speed. With a 23 mm internal rim width, you can also run much wider tires safely. The real limit is your frame clearance.
The ARX 48 uses hooked rims (with a bead hook). This is the most versatile and safest solution, allowing both tubeless (tubeless) and classic clincher tires with inner tubes (including latex or TPU), without the strict pressure limits typical of hookless rims.
The rims in our wheels have a “paintless” (raw carbon) finish, protected only by a thin layer of clear, matte lacquer. This approach leaves the carbon structure fully visible. The fibres you can see, the seams where the individual plies of material meet and the particular way the light catches the surface are a natural characteristic of the composite, not product defects.
This solution is used only in top-tier components. It stands in contrast to cheaper rims, which are coated with a thick layer of paint to hide imperfections left over from production. Skipping the masking paint saves precious grams of rotating mass, and the visible weave of the fibres is a mark of quality – in exactly the same way that visible grain speaks to the nobility of natural wood.
You order the wheels with a freehub body matched to your drivetrain – options include Shimano HG 11-speed (also compatible with 12-speed road cassettes), SRAM XDR, Shimano Micro Spline and Campagnolo N3W. Before ordering, make sure the chosen freehub body is compatible with the components on your bike. We encourage you to read the article on our blog covering this topic.
All three are reliable ratchet hubs for straight-pull spokes – they differ in weight and in the design of the engagement mechanism.
Yes. The ARX 48 rim profile was designed using airflow simulation analysis, with particular attention to stability in crosswind gusts. The rim has a U-shape rather than the outdated V-shape. As a result, the wheels are far less sensitive to crosswinds and stay stable and predictable even at high speed. That makes them ideal all-rounders – equally at home on flat routes and on rolling hills.
Thanks to a reinforced carbon fibre layup and Sapim spokes, the weight limit (rider + bike) is as high as 130 kg. This makes them some of the most durable and, at the same time, genuinely lightweight road wheels on the market.
On wheels built on carbon rims we offer a lifetime warranty, and we process claims within five working days. We also cover them with our Crash Replacement programme: if you damage a rim in a crash, we’ll replace it on preferential terms. We carry out all service repairs within two weeks, because we keep the necessary parts in stock. We build every wheel by hand in our Warsaw workshop and treat each one as a separate project.
