DOUBLE HOOK TECHNOLOGY: DURABILITY, LIGHTNESS, AND CONFIDENCE

Finding the sweet spot between durability and low weight is the ultimate challenge in the world of modern carbon wheels. Our answer is Double Hook technology—a proprietary solution that puts an end to the “light vs. sturdy” dilemma. We offer a level of protection derived from downhill racing, now available for gravel, while simultaneously eliminating the risk of tire blow-off. You will find this solution featured in our GRX 40 model.

What exactly is Double Hook?

The name refers to a dual-zone rim wall construction that is unique in the gravel world. Instead of a standard profile, we utilized a double hook design, which brings a range of tangible benefits:

  • Inner Hook: Guarantees secure tire seating. Unlike hookless systems, this mechanical “lock” keeps the tire in place even at higher pressures. This eliminates the risk of the tire sliding off (so-called blow-off) during aggressive riding.
  • Outer Reinforcement (Outer Lip): This is a true breakthrough. The outer edge has been thickened and profiled to create a solid “bumper.” Its job is to absorb impact energy from roots or rocks during a rim strike (bottoming out), effectively protecting the carbon structure from cracking.

Up to 30% Higher Durability and Weight Reduction

Thanks to the more massive build of the rim wall, Double Hook rims offer—according to our tests – 25-30% higher resistance to point impacts compared to standard designs of the same weight.

The wider rim edge also acts as a “blunt bumper,” drastically reducing the risk of pinch flats (so-called snake bites) when riding at low tire pressures. The impact does not occur against the “sharp” edge of thin carbon, but against a broad, reinforced surface.

Crucially, this technology allows us to reduce the weight of the entire rim by reinforcing it only at the most critical point. As a result, Double Hook rims are armored and impact-resistant while maintaining low rotating mass.

A Proven Solution

The concept of reinforcing rim walls is not an experiment, but a proven trend in gravity cycling. A similar philosophy is used, for example, by DT Swiss in their FR (Freeride/Downhill) series rims. The Swiss manufacturer also modified the hook profile by adding material in key zones, which, according to their research, increases resistance to rim strikes and protects the tire.

We have transferred this “armored” logic to lighter gravel wheels. With Double Hook, you gain the confidence of downhill-grade equipment at a featherlight weight. This is technology for those who want to ride without worrying about their gear.
